Mass Bunking

I study in a girls’ school which is the campus school of a women’s university. Most of the girls are hostellers and few are day scholars   who do not occupy hostels, they come either out of university or live in the staff quarters with their parents or guardians who work there. I live with my mummy in the campus only. We are given 1 hour break for our lunch after the 4th period and remaining all the periods are after the lunch. The   school building is not in floors but has only ground floor and is spread in a very large area.
One fine sunny day with little bit of cold breeze, which is less expected in the state of Rajasthan, was  making the leaves of the neem and babool glide.  The black board was unnecessarily being used by some girls to do some equation in chemistry and to flaunt their intelligence. There was no noise  in the class except the fans and the screeching of chalks.
2nd period was vacant most of the girls were utilising their time being asleep and were not supposed to be disturbed as they study  till 3 a.m. , others who were not nocturnal were engaged in a very intense discussion. I too was feeling sleepy looking at the lazy environment but the discussion going in the background forced me to poke my nose in it and be the part of it and surprisingly I was welcomed.  It was ‘bout bunking the 2nd half of school. They asked me too. But I replied, “ no".If you want to, you are free but don’t expect it from me.” I turned back again. Trying to engage my mind somewhere else, I decided to go to library I issued a 10th  class biology reference book and came back slowly taking a long route. Wishing teachers ‘good morning’  whom I met in my way.
I reached back to class thinking this was the first time there is no noise coming from 10th , especially from my section, may be the girls are engaged in something constructive and moreover, it is at the  front of the principal office. I entered inside to see a girl standing like a leader of the class guiding the whole class to bunk the second half. She also made a gesture to ask if I would like to initiate them in their great deed. Great deed indeed!!! because it is not easy to  bunk right in front of the principal's office. After her all the members were making  plans to run under the nose of all the teachers.
After I  settled on my seat I asked the girl sitting next to me, “ what has happened,” after clearing her throat she replied, “ See, today is sports opening programne, some of the girls have participated in it so,they will not be attending the school after lunch. We all have decided to bunk and make an excuse that some of us were participants and some were helping us in preparing the props and some were absent for the whole day.” Are you interested the girl standing in front asked to me. I said yes...
